Ontario Man Jailed for 'Sex Spankings'
reported by Februs

54 year old Ontario resident, Gary William Cameron, has been sentenced to 11 months in jail for spanking-related offences committed over the last couple of years.

Described as a man who had an obsession for 'spanking women who misbehaved' he subjected three women boarders at his house to spankings when they broke his house rules.

A number of the spankings left bruises and one teenager cried having received an "ass-tanning" from Cameron. The number of whacks meted out to his female victims corresponded to their ages and some of the women were spanked on the bare bottom.

Another woman who he met via a telephone chat-line came to stay at his place for the weekend and soon found herself being spanked with a slipper for a minor misdemeanor.

With a previous assault conviction taken into consideration, Justice Mark Hornblower (no, really!) imposed an 11 month sentence which will be followed by two years probation.

Teacher to Turn Himself in for Spanking Pupils
reported by Valerie

A 48 year old sports coach and mathematics teacher has been suspended from his Middle School post in Clover, South Carolina, for spanking three members of his 7th Grade class.

It has been reported that he punished pupils on occasions when they either failed to answer questions correctly or spoke when they had been told to be quiet.

It is said that he placed the pupils over his knee or held them down by the back of the neck and spanked them in front of the class. There was no mention of an implement being used, so it is assumed the spankings were delivered by his, presumably athletic, hand.

Despite the overall State legislature permitting CP, since December 2007 Clover district policy has not supported such action in its local schools.

Some local residents interviewed were quoted as saying:
"It (spanking) was commonplace when I was in school, but I think that our society has outgrown that quite a bit."
and, again,
"There are different ways (to discipline them) than spanking a child."
In the meantime, the teacher involved has been charged with 'misdemeanour assault', and has indicated that he will turn himself in to the authorities in a few days' time.

Students Arrested and Charged with Hazing
reported by Seegee

Three students from Francis Marion University and six former students were arrested by the Florence County Sheriff's Office in connection with an off-campus hazing incident in October which resulted in the hospitalization of one student.

A sheriff's office press release stated:
"...the suspects allegedly beat the victim with a paddle to such an extent as to have resulted in serious bodily injury requiring an extended stay at an area hospital."
All of the suspects are current or alumni-status members of FMU's chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

According to the sheriff's office, 9 men aged between 21 and 34 were charged with hazing. Hazing is a misdemeanor crime punishable by a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment of up to one year, or both. The suspects appeared before a Florence County Magistrate and were released on $5,000 personal recognizance bonds.

FMU spokesperson Angela Crosland said in a statement that the chapter has been suspended both by FMU and the national Phi Beta Sigma fraternity as a result of the allegations:
"Incidents like this reflect badly on both the university and the fraternity involved. We're satisfied that we and Phi Beta Sigma have taken appropriate action and await further legal advice."
Paddling once a playful way to welcome new members to a fraternity has taken a rather dark turn with this incident and may be banned altogether, with ruling bodies no longer able to turn a blind eye to even the odd playful swat or two.

Singaporean Man Attempts to Avoid Judicial Caning
reported by Februs

A 49 year old Singaporean man, Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman, who was charged with loan shark harassment attempted to delay his sentencing by a month in order to avoid a judicial caning. The cut-off date for canings in Singapore is 50 years of age and he was just weeks away from his 50th birthday.

Judge Wong, however, allowed a maximum of just one week's adjournment and Abdullah subsequently pleaded guilty to three charges of harassment and another of attempted harassment. He was then jailed for 16 weeks and awarded 9 strokes of the cane.

Nevertheless, he still managed to avoid the caning when a report from the resident medical officer of the Singapore Prison Service found that Abdullah was deemed medically unfit to be caned, having previously had a heart stent inserted into an artery. The caning was however replaced by an extra 9 weeks jail time, totalling 25 in all.
