Here is issue 5 of the LSF's Wellred Weekly, packed full of the usual interesting and informative articles plus absolute lunacy for your entertainment and delight. Hopefully the content will help to brighten the gloom of the long winter months. So grab a coffee or a glass (or two) of your favourite tipple, and read on.

It is always interesting to hear what spanko people are getting up to in various parts of the globe. Hotspur treats us to a look at the spanking scene in South Africa, a country that has only recently banned corporal punishment in schools. He mentions some of the meets and spanking events organised in his part of the world, where pro-dommes are plentiful and are only too happy to assist in the realisation of spanking fantasies. Next we feature an article by Bonnie, owner of the blog My Bottom Smarts. She shares her perspective on blogging, seeking to demystify the blogging phenomenon and introduce some key facts.

We continue our regular Interview With An Author slot by introducing Rollin, observing his metamorphosis from being a prolific consumer of spanking fiction to an equally prolific writer of spanking fiction. Rollin shares some personal insights and discusses his forthcoming novella. Still on the interview theme, we explore the spanking art of Japanese artist, Kami Tora. I'm sure you will all agree that his drawings are superb.

Februs brings us an interesting and amusing article on spanking machines - a must for every discerning spankee (or spankers who don't want to make their hands sore.) The basic idea for a spanking machine has been traced back to 1830. How practical these things are is a matter of opinion, but it is certainly entertaining to explore the use of spanking machines in art and fiction. For those who prefer to do their spanking the old fashioned way with the aid of a paddle, read Katie B's article praising the merits of her favourite spanking implement. Some people get paddled on their birthday as part of their birthday spanking. Janine looks at the origin and ritual associated with the tradition of birthday spankings, informing us that it is not only Americans who enjoy this quaint custom. Maybe getting older isn't so bad really!

Many of us Brits were brought up with a regular dose of comics such as the Dandy and Beano. It is hard to believe that one of Britain's favourite cartoon characters is now 60 years old. My article on Dennis the Menace celebrates the creation and exploits of this naughty fictional schoolboy, a boy whose bottom came into regular contact with an assortment of slippers! Following on from the schoolboy theme, Canadian Spankee reminisces about his own schooldays and the type of punishments that were inflicted on pupils during a time when spankings were common. Interestingly, although the boys in the school were paddled, the girls were not. Following through on a nostalgic feel we introduce Retrospective by Dave Caldewell, a snip of a lad at almost 60 years old, who looks back through the years to recall what first drew him to spanking. I'm sure there are many people who will identify with his early recollections, and agree that the internet has enabled communication with like-minded people.

Barrethunter is an aficionado of spanking verse and shares his approach to writing verse on a spanking theme. His article celebrates the power of words and their rhythm and rhyme. He explains the four common patterns which apply to verses of four lines each, and gives plenty of practical examples for those who wish to take up the challenge of writing in rhyme. Moving on from poetry to spanking art, many of you will know of the Spanking Art Wiki, an amazing resource that continues to evolve. I have pleasure in introducing Spankart, the creator of the Spanking Art Wiki. He discusses its development and challenges and presents his personal vision for the future of this collaborative online spanking art encyclopaedia.

And finally we include a Cartoon section for the first time, featuring a cartoon by Tiptopper. If anyone else out there can produce drawings of a similar quality, do please get in touch!

I agree, Flopsy. Every person in the library must have an interesting way of life in this type of scene. I think everyone here waits to hear each and every one.

Master and Mistress of ceremonies, Februs and Flopsy.
I imagine you could have written this intro in your sleep after days and days of all the reading, editing and rewriting so everything fits and looks fabulous. This publication is quite a masterpiece.
Bravo to your vision and organization.

Effort is always to be admired, but when skill and imagination are added this is the result. Thanks for a great read, flopsy. (Thanks to the individual contributors too, of course, and to febs for all the wizzy workings))
