This bumper issue of the Wellred Weekly is the biggest and fattest one to date! It is crammed with spanky stuff for your entertainment and delight.

CP enthusiasts and readers of the spanking magazines Janus and Kane will no doubt recall the name of George Harrison Marks. His biographer, Peter Henderson, gives us an insight into the man who later produced and directed a great many spanking videos. The location of one film, shot in an abandoned grammar school, later became the new police headquarters. Oh, the irony! Another big name in the spanking movie arena is John Osborne, owner of the AAA Spanking website. In this first in a new series entitled 'In Conversation With...' John tells us how he came to set up AAA Spanking, and regales us with a few anecdotes from the shoots. Apparently he often appears in the videos himself - what a rotten job! Aside from developing Triple A, John has exciting plans for the future and we wish him the best of luck.

Renee Rose, feminist author of spanking romances, thinks that the concept of non consent in spanking fiction is hot - and I happen to agree with her. Renee's article, Consent vs. Non-Consent in Fiction and Real Life, is an interesting read and is closely linked to her opinions on feminism versus submission. The lines of consent and non consent are also referred to in Vivian's article The Burdens of Being a Disciplinarian. Involved in a domestic discipline relationship, she highlights some of the dangers for both partners, and looks specifically at some of the risks taken by the dominant partner relating to legal liability, emotional trauma, mental energy, and the isolation factor.

Februs's article in this issue is entitled Paula Meadows: First Lady of Spanking. One definition of 'First Lady' is a woman considered to be at the top of her profession or art, so it is a fitting epithet for Paula Meadows, famous not only for her wonderful drawings, but also for her roles in spanking films and photo shoots, and her later career as editor of the spanking magazine Februs (not to be confused with the author of the article). Next, we interview pro-Domme Miss Lydia, who, given that she likes working with her hands, appears to have found the perfect job! She shares various information with us, including how she became involved in the business of being a dominatrix; the importance of after care following a session with a client - many of whom return for a repeat performance; and an indication of the types of cp services she provides.

Our featured artist in this issue is Overbarrel and I'm sure you will agree his work is excellent. Being of the opinion that drawings seem to convey the essence of a good spanking much better than spanking photographs do, Overbarrel has been motivated to produce lots of art work to prove his theory. In the interview he also refers to some of his favourite spanking artists, as well as offering an explanation regarding how he creates his pieces using various software. And if you want to know why he finds panties such a problem, you'll just have to read the article!

Why is it that the erstwhile figure of the governess holds such fascination in the present day? In my article, The Governess, I refer to some early publications which feature the governess who is often shown to emerge as the heroine of the story, escaping a prim middle-age by marrying the local curate or the filthy rich and wildly sexy master of the house. But the role and function of the governess in spanking stories is even more interesting as it focuses almost exclusively on the giving or receiving of corporal punishment. Next, Flogmaster presents his opinions on what makes a good spanking book. Many of us will share his enthusiasm for schoolgirl spankings, LOTS of spankings (not the pitter-pat type, but proper spankings - the sort that actually hurt) and a dash of humour and humiliation to spice up the mix. He also refers to the importance of spanking detail - absolutely - who wants to read endless lines of Smack! Smack! Smack!? Description is King in spanking stories - as evidenced in Flogmaster's own works.

Thoughts Of a German Spankophile from our German friend crumbmouse reveals a personal perspective regarding her lifestyle preferences. It transpires that most of her knowledge of the English language has been acquired through reading spanking material and participating within the English-speaking spanking scene - sounds like an excellent way to pick up the lingo. She describes aspects of the German scene, which is mainly BDSM oriented, and concludes that there is nothing wrong with abandoning the leather and latex gear and nipple clamps to simply be 'just a spanko'. Thoughts of whether spanking should be considered as a part of BDSM is a key element of Spanking Labels by Lea. She considers all the labels that we tend to use and specifically those of Top/bottom, dominant/submissive and sadist/masochist. An interesting discussion ensues, arriving at the conclusion that doing what you enjoy is what matters and that ultimately labels are of secondary importance.

Continuing the label theme to some extent is our final article in this issue entitled Why Tops Need To Spank. Here we have Devlin O'Neill, born with an itchy palm, who reckons that only spanking a girl can assuage that itch. So, until the next issue, I leave all you Tops frantically scratching or assuaging your collective itch!
