In Praise of the Paddle A spanking paddle is an implement used to strike a person on the buttocks. The act of striking a person with a paddle is known as "paddling". A paddling may be for punishment (normally of a student at school), or as an initiation or hazing ritual, or for erotic purposes. But who really needs the definition for paddle or paddling? Isn't it a favorite for most of us? It is certainly one of my very favorite spanking implements. Any spanking enthusiast who reads avidly will come across a zillion stories in the library using paddles in one form or another. That alone says a lot about the love most have for this splendid implement.  How did the paddle come about? It was widely used in the early days when punishing slaves. Slave owners would use the paddle rather then whips because it did less damage to the skin but would still cause intense pain. And then of course paddles were used frequently in American schools to punish the misconduct of the students although it's not certain why schools chose the paddle over other implements. Besides being popular in the school, paddles have become very popular with many Americans when spanking an unruly offender for several reasons. For one thing, it saves wear and tear on the hand! Another extremely logical reason people prefer paddles to other implements such as belts and whips would be that they don't wrap around the hips of the spankee, which can be dangerous as well as hurt like Hell. Also, there are many different shapes and sizes of paddles out there that can be used in many different ways. One can use a small paddle much like a hairbrush when paddling over the knee or larger ones when in the standing position. But probably my most favorite reason for liking the paddle is the sound it makes when making contact with the buttocks! It gives me the shivers when I hear the wood smacking bare skin! And lastly, most of us get a slight fluttery feeling in the pit of our stomachs at the mere mention or even a glimpse of a paddle. Psychological? Yes it is... but usually true.  As already mentioned above, the sound of the paddle as it makes contact with the bottom is chilling. It has a very distinctive popping sound as the paddle strikes the culprit's cheeks over and over. How many enjoy simply listening to a paddling in progress? I would venture to say most of us. That is very evident from the number of spectator stories there are in the library. The sounds that come from both the paddle and the spankee are rather erotic. Picking the right paddle for the occasion is important. There are many kinds of paddles of all shapes and sizes that one can choose from. The most typical paddles are made from wood or leather. However some harsher paddles have been created from metal and rubber. Neither one is really desirable for most spanking devotees as they are very dense. After all, there's something to be said about police back in the old days beating confessions out of people with rubber hoses in a back room. Wooden paddles are my favorite. They can be made from most woods but the most typical are hickory, maple, birch, ash, or oak. Supposedly the best dimensions of an effective paddle are 18" long by 3-1/2" wide and about 3/8" thick. Holes drilled through the center are an added plus in my book although they aren't mandatory and many prefer not to use them. It simply adds a little kink to the paddling. Personally I could care less what size the paddle is as long as it brings a nice little sting and a red glow to my ass!  There are many reasons as to why enthusiasts spank. For most of the Kilahara library readers, it's simply done for recreational purposes. There are several other reasons as well but two that are at the top of the list include actual punishment to correct naughty behavior, or the ever-popular fraternity and sorority paddlings. The fraternity stories are quite popular as I am sure many readers have experienced these brutal paddlings first hand and loved them! The paddles are usually longer then those listed above by about four inches. They are also slightly thicker and a little wider. It's best to be careful with this type of paddle, as it is so very large, it could actually cause damage or bruising to the spankee's buttocks. All I can say is pledges on college campuses beware! Then there's the naughty behavior... oh how we all love being naughty. Right? Most of my stories tend to be about paddling a teen's backside for some misdeed they have done. I usually select the paddle as part or all their punishment because here in the states most people are familiar with it and most likely have been spanked with one sometime during their lifetime. The paddle is used in the home and if you live in the right area... some schools.  According to the National Coalition To Abolish Corporal Punishment In Schools (NCACPS), in the 2005-2006 school year there were nineteen USA states that had laws permitting corporal punishment in schools. This means thirty one states were not in favor of this practice. It is also stated in Wikipedia, which we all know is not quite as reliable, that CP has been outlawed in other places in the world including Canada, Kenya, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand, and nearly all of Europe except for France. Whether this is totally true I am not sure, but I found it interesting to say the least. But as I am an American and a Texan to boot, I'll zero in on the use of the paddle in Texas schools. I'll start out by saying I've actually witnessed students being popped with the paddle inside the classroom. Many moons ago when I was student teaching, a girl and a boy were held back while others were sent to recess. I believe the girl had not turned her homework in for the third time and she was now going to be paying the price. I was told to stand there and be a witness while the teacher slipped the paddle out from her desk drawer and told the girl to bend over and put her hands on her knees. The teacher then proceeded to apply five firm swats across the girl's jeans. The whole thing happened in a matter of thirty seconds, possibly even less, and then she was made to sit down and work on the incomplete assignments while the teacher took care of the boy. I honestly can't remember what he did to deserve the paddle but the same procedure happened to him. Afterwards, while the teacher was distracted doing something else, the boy told me he was spanked all the time at home and asked if I wanted to know how! Slightly embarrassed, I said no, but he invariably told me anyway! He seemed so excited about telling me everything that I sometimes wonder if he might be a spanko today! Maybe even reading this article!  This was probably a pretty typical scenario in most elementary schools that practiced CP about twenty years ago. Although when I was a kid, most spankings took place in the hallway. Another teacher would always be asked to witness the pops. Of course no one saw the kid getting the licks but you could've heard a pin drop inside the class as the kid was given several loud smacks. Believe me, that one spanking would keep everyone in line for weeks! I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about. Today, however, instead of paddling a student inside the classroom or in the hallway, they are typically taken to the office where the spanking is given in private. Witnesses are usually the office staff. It is less likely nowadays to administer a paddling on the spur of the moment, and more likely to require formal bureaucratic procedures and specific documentation. This is done to assure legality, and also helps guard against the danger of an angry teacher resorting to random acts of violence. (I can vouch for that one!)  Bottom line, some teachers have more freedom then others with regards to disciplining in their own classrooms, but it should never be abused. The best teachers are those who can connect with students individually, and not need to rely totally on paddling. Personally I think paddling has a place in the school as long as it is done correctly. For legal reasons and their own protection, teachers should always consult with the parents and principal before ever laying a hand on a child. I'm not so sure parents shouldn't be subjected to the paddle as well with the way some raise their children! But all that comes from the teacher side of me! Regardless as to how you choose to use the paddle, whether it is for disciplining that naughty little brat or just for plain fun... have a spanking good time! 38 comments
