My mother told me years ago that this was how she and her brothers and sister were punished. They had to hold up a bucket for at least an hour and usually wound up with a red bottom. 7 October 2013 19:37

A very imaginative variation on cornertime position punishment. Although not in a corner or even facing the wall. She will eventually tire and spill and get caned. 8 January 2021 14:27
